Diana asked the name of a person who would investigate murders or other
untimely deaths within a
vincinity. They were called coroners. They did what coroners do today
in addition to work that would today be done
by a police dectective. The coroner investigated any reported untimely
death be it intentional or non.
As far as despensing justice goes, it depends on the nature of the
crime, who it was committed by and in what region.
There were travelling judges who heard cases. There were several courts
(King's Bench. Ecclesiatical etc.) one could go to as well, depending
on the person's resources and
status. Trial by jury was an institution at this time as well.
