Re: Cookies and Mercs

Good gentles of Atlantia,
Indeed I did find Gentle Julien's comments very helpful! The points
were very well made indeed, and I too can attribute this "Rhino hide" to
the fact that until most recently, to authorize in Atlantia, you had to
own full PLATE, which is rare in many kingdoms.
So my comments are now qualified: When I said unchivalrous, I meant so
in the context that to call a shot "light" when it was not considered so
anywhere else in the realm was unchivalrous.
I am NOT a heavy weapons fighter, I watch with keen interest and joy and
wait for activities that suit this aging frame. I have seen Atlantians
fight each other, and others. My observation has been that only shots
that can dent plate are called good. Now if I was the only one who had
observed this, I guess I would have to say, it was just my impression.
But it is the impression of Atlantians, Calontir's, Trimarians and
Meridians alike that many (NOT ALL) fight in such a manner as to remove
all sport.
My comments too were a bit irreverent, in hopes that more Atlantians
would come hither and join our events to see how we gentles fight, and
how we display our chivalry good by calling shots that would cripple
someone wearing say, real maille, or leather armor. And specifically as
a follow up to the mercenary thread calling for you Celts to come raid
with us in Village raids.
I meant no serious insult, and beg your humble understanding in my
forthright comments.
In service to the game
Gryffri
