Re: first impressions

Greetings to all gathered,
My first impression of the SCA was at Nottinghill Coil's baronial
birthday (1992?). My then boyfriend (A.K.A. Idiot) was involved in heavy
fighting and brought me to the event. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I
had a blast. Everyone made me feel welcome, including Baron Corwen (sp??).
There was a quest, tournament fighting, merchants, feast, and revel.
There was so much to see and do. It was very exciting. I remember when
Idiot was called for his first match of the day, the marshal ask the
fighters to bow to the one who inspires you and he of course bowed to me.
I ate it up!! I remember thinking "this is soooo cool!". Well, after that
event things went down hill quickly for myself and Idiot. But that's o.k.
(his nickname should clue you in). In spite of the fact that it was Idiot
who introduced me to the SCA, I still love it. I've often said that the
ONLY good thing that came out of that relationship was the SCA.
Still here,
Brighid Ni Chillin
