I am most sorry to hear this happened to you, Lady Windsor.  This sort of
behaviour, especially within the SCA, is inexcusable.  [And, it's one of
the reasons I'm so admantly against Courtly Love (see previous post).
Assuming that her help was refused for being female.]  A helping hand is a
helping hand.  Politely telling someone that the assistance is not needed
is one thing.  Chewing out someone (especially a Lady for those Courtly
Love believers) is ridiculous!

Or, that some of us get quite upset and angry at this uncivilised behaviour.

This should be true in modern society as well.  A sad thing that it needs
to be said, but apparently it does.  Behaving as a lady/gentleman (why not
lady/lord or gentlewoman/gentleman?  Anyway...) is one of the
*requirements* for participants (Corpora, II.D.).  Be nice if more people
would keep that in mind.
