For that matter, you'd think that people would know enough not to
eat random herbs. Anyone who's even vaguely familiar with rhubarb
knows that only the stems are safe...

I assume that most of us, as children, wandered about in the
gardens of our parents and neighbors, and sometimes grabbed
things to put in our mouths-it's natural-kids do that all the
time. If you grew up in a city, as I did, you also ambled about
in parks and vacant lots-and as for the people who grew up in
the "safe" countryside, well...we all learned early on that
plants we didn't recognize weren't good for us-because Mom and
Dad smacked us when we started getting herbivorous. What's with
these people?
