As I recall, in Caid, the Crown Prince and Princess are chosen about a 
month and a half before coronation, and then they serve six months as 
King and Queen.  (Looking at the Caidan Kingdom Calendar, Crown Tourney 
was April 6, Coronation will be May 18 and 19.)  It's one of them Eastern 
Rite/Western Rite/Aten Heresy interkingdom differences that makes the SCA 
so gosh-darned interesting ;)
