You might tell friends or family or anybody who might need to get hold of
you quickly in a real emergency, though. It *is* possible, even in a camp
of 10,000 people covering a couple of square miles .

And for those who are sometimes annoyed by heralds' cries consider this: two
years ago somebody from Troll came in to Herald's Point asking for an
emergency cry. A lady attending the war had a family medical emergency at
home; the caller did not know her SCA name or who she was camping with.
Volunteer heralds organized a coverage plan in less than five minutes and
went out to cry the camp. Less than *20 minutes* later someone came in and
said she had been located.
