I propose that we add another Layer of Reality <tm> to experience various
Period methods of resolving heraldic conflicts. To wit: devise some arms
that are only for demonstration purposes. Let no-one develope any emotional
attachment to these arms. Make up all the banners, gonfannons, tabards,
etc, that _two_ great lords would have with these arms. Then assign to
people to temporarily, for one event, play the part of two disputants.
Perhaps one has been granted the arms and the other has assumed them;
the circumstances (and the players (and the actual method used to resolve
the dispute)) could vary each year. Then, at the end of the event, the people
go back to their "real" arms and personas, and there's no Bad Blood <tm>.

What do you think?
