Actually, Earth Guild does not have the best selection.
The best I have seen so far would be Lacis (already mentioned) and 

Robin & Russ in McMinnville, OR - they have thread as fine as Egyptian Cotton
160/2 and silk 140/2.  Additionally, in the store they have 25-30 types of
bobbins, plus numerous books including ones in German, Danish, etc.  A bobbin
lacer's dream come true!
They do mail order and also have a web page..
