Not as stupid as this Peer Joke:

A Knight, a Pelican and a Laurel were walking along a railroad track when
suddenly a train came along.

The Pelican did his best to stop it, but failed.

The Knight ran twenty yards further down the track, stopped and exclaimed:
"That was close!"

The Laurel looked at the train, sneered "Out of period!" and kept on
walking.

[At this point you stop and wait for somebody to gasp "But didn't the
train kill her?"]

Of course not.  
She refused to acknowledge the blow.
