To all who gather at the Merry Rose,greetings:

          There has been a discussion on the SCA ARTS  list 
recently on the subject of Viking Scrolls. In this discussion
reports have been given of award scrolls in the form of carved 
stone runestones , and a painting/rendering of a runestone,
and a drinking horn with the text of the award engraved in the
silver rim. . . There has also been a discussion as to the
apropriatness of scrolls bared on book illumination to personas
of cultures without books,as well as the language/alphabet to
