Cloning does seem like a good answer...at the very least, I'd be able to
have a chance in a combat against my clone...especially since the clone
would be busy trying to illuminate a scroll while I used the offside
stroke I'm supposed to be learning...there might be something here.

I've been informed now that in fact it was a "stuck between a rock and a
hard place" type of thing, which seems reasonable enough.  I've pondered
a solomon-like resolution, splitting myself in half, but alas, my armor
keeps slipping, so that's not an option.  I guess I'll have to flip a
coin.
