A good person to get ahold of is a Chirurgeon in the Middle of Knowhere, who
is also a doctor and he has done this research before just for kicks:

He has this and mid-wifery in the middle ages, and leeching 101, etc....I have
taken each of his classes with joy (and sometimes less lunch in the tummy)..
