No it's not a joke.  They've been working on this for a while now.  It
looked interesting from the few minuts I saw on Entertainment tonight or
whatever show it was I saw it on  (this was at least 6 months ago if not
more).  It looked like they were trying to be a bit more intelligent
then a Mortal Kombat type thing, but I'm sure there will be a lot of
liberties taken, starting with the fact that it's a futuristic sci fi
kind of movie.  I'm going to reserve judgement till more info is
available.  As long as no one expects it to be faithful, it shouldn't be
too disappointing.
