I can think of one possible example. Mathilde of Tuscany in the eleventh 
century raised armis and fought against her overlord, the King of 
Germany and Holy Roman Emperor. She was supporting the Pope in the 
investiture dispute between the Pope and the Holy Roman Emperor.
