Switching sides

Poster: Peter Adams <redduke@earthlink.net>

Dex, Dex, Dex, you missed the point (shakes head sadly, and remembers
that Eric is even older than me)
	So once more:

We did not "switch" sides!

How do I know this for sure? Well, we werent on *anyones* side when
Tsuneo and Nyan Nyan got on the throne! After that, we picked one-

So, while we went with a different side than the year before, but this
is not switching, cause, again, we were not ON anyones side.

BTW, I certainly didnt mean to come off crazed by this, but your use of
the word "switching" implies to me that we were in some way pre chosen
for one or another side, and I certainly don't agree with that premise!
(I bet you dont either)

In fact your confusion speaks to one of the reasons we did fight for
the Mid- everyone thought we HAD to fight for the east, except for a few
Atlantians. There had been a treaty in effect to that end, but it was
ended in the reign of Knarlic and Alexis, the previous year.
Interestingly, to demonstrate Atlantia's right of choice, Knarlic
negated the treaty, but fought for the East anyway- He wanted it clear
that Atlantia marched with the East for friendship, not by mandate. I
give him a lot of respect for that decision, as it paved the way for a
better understanding of Atlantian independence.
It is important to remember in the Easts attitudes of that time, that
Atlantia was a principality of the East _first_ and a kingdom later- it
is not surprising that they were reluctant to let go.
Also, for clarity, the East has not had a proprietarial attitude to
Atlantia in many years- our current tendencies to ally are based on the
friendships created by the warlords and Royalty of our Lands, not in the
least based on the equality of those positions.
