Or you could choose not to attend - it's not like there are so few
events on the calendar that to miss one is a disaster. I heartily
approve of the *type* of event that Night on the Town is, but I'm not
much into the whole Elizabethan thing, so I don't go. Back when it was
Knight of the Heart, and it was 14-15th C. I went and gave it my full
support. That's one of the joys of Atlantia - there are so many things
to do!

Another thing that makes the Night on the Town's persona play easier is
that in many cases it's not *your own* persona that is being played, but
a 'character' (as in a live-action role-playing game); that character
(Sheriff, Pirate, etc) gives a role for interaction with the other
characters. This is somewhat different than trying to be your *SCA*
persona to that level.

Something some friends and I have tried, with moderate success, is to
set aside particular hours during the day or evening, during which we
attempt to be the best we could. Again, this worked better in a setting
where we were all trying to do the approximate same time/place, but it
could even work within a larger event (the Elizabethan nights at
Pennsic, or during the pas d'armes at Pennsic or something).
