That's one of the goals behind the upcoming Siege of Acre event,
which is coming up the end of June. The basic idea behind the
event is to re-create the atmosphere of the arrival of Richard the
Lionhearted at the siege; folks are invited to play westerners or
easterners (or Crusaders vs. Saracens, or Frankish Dogs vs. the
forces of Allah, etc.) ;)

Basic jist of the siege is that the city of Acre is besieged on all
sides -- including the harbor -- by European forces under no real
unified leadership until the arrival of Richard; the Europeaners'
seige is ringed by a counter-siege of Eastern forces, again from a
variety of nations throughout the Middle East, led by Saladin ...

The (at least temporary) site where the Research Team has been
putting up information is http://moas.atlantia.sca.org/acretemp/ ...
the site isn't complete yet and my husband (the more
knowledgeable half of the Research Team) hasn't put up his paper
on the siege as yet, and that'll be a much better 'splanation :)
