  The fact that this book, written by an actual knight in the Period
  to uphold the values of chivalry, fails to meet my expectations,
  suggests to me that my notions of chivalry are not accurate.

Alfredo, let me put it this way: I have not done enough research to be
absolutely sure, but pretty much all the reading I *have* done convinces me
that I do not desire to act they way period Knights acted.  I would, however,
want to act as period knights were described to act in period songs and poems.

With potential exceptions the above is fairly accurate.
