Check the diaries of Queen Isabella of Spain.  She talks about the
juice of the orange that the Moores drank with there noon meals.  
She
talks about how sweet it is and that she wants the groves of trees
that produce the fruit preserved in the war if at all possible.  She
also wrote a letter to Ferdenand about the subject that was part of
the Barcelona collection that toured through the Library of Congress
Rare Book Collection a couple of years ago.
