Re: North Vs. South

Poster: Ann Shelton <"sheltons@conterra.com"@conterra.com>

Dear Gentles,

As a Southerner who travels and knows (and cares about) quite a few
Northerners, here are my two cents.

1. I think the North/South/Central issue concerning Kingdom events may
be somewhat of a digression. The poster, Lord Liam, was merely trying
to point out that this "singular" event of a BOD town meeting was being
held in one of the far reaches of the Kingdom. Because this does
involve the BOD, it is significant to many of us (no matter where we
live). Neither of these statements should be up for dispute. I
understand that Mistress Keilyn scheduled the event with short notice on
an already "full" calendar. We in the South (or wherever) will just
have to do the best we can to attend.

2. Attendance is only one way to receive this information as well as
info discussed at Curias. It would be nice if these bodies of info were
available to any interested member of our group. Even regular attendees
of Curia may miss a few. Any ideas?

3. Re: the Principality. I personally feel this will eventually
happen. I do not feel that it is a threat to me or mine and therefore
do not need to be "forewarned."

4. Re: "perceived" injustices. I have been a member of the SCA for
about 10 years. This issue comes up frequently (too frequently). I can
remember entire "Northern" as well as "Southern" reigns. I can also
remember many others who made the effort to travel. Seven Deadly Sins
comes directly to mind. Could we all just admit that travel is a
necessary evil in this hobby, do so when we can and admit that our
limitations in travel are more often our own and not caused by the
group?

Egads, after that last run on sentence I will sign off before the
grammar police come swooping:)
